Quite incidentally, these guys met as if by a twist of fate. Like a domino effect—one by one, each meeting produced an intro to the next.
Chris and Ricky have a chance encounter in ''97 at a recording studio in NYC owned by Chris'' dad, Henry Hierro, incidentally one of the most influential musical directors and producers of the Dominican Republic, during one of Ricky''s routine guitar sessions. In casual conversation, they discover they had previously crossed paths—literally, in the hallways and on the grounds of the same high school they attended. A year later, Ricky and Steve meet at SOB''s in the East Village at an R&B Showcase where they both performed. Lastly, in ''03, Steve and Bombie team up at a church where they assembled and where each played their respective instruments for the congregation. Now in the role of producer, Ricky called on his friends for almost every recording he was hired to do.
In early 2006 Chris is approached by an executive at Moonlight Music Group Corp. and asked to become part of a duet which is named TAXI AMARILLO, after NYC yellow cabs – undeniably synonymous with the city, where they all have deep roots and eventually come together. Chris is chosen to musically direct TA, and promptly calls on Bombie, Steve and Ricky for the recordings. A year later, Chris'' duet partner leaves the group on good terms; but the remaining members admirable refusal to quit and keep the project alive is what pushed the TA movement forward. Today the seamless transition from duet to band has proven extremely rewarding, with each adding their unique pinch of flavor to TaxiAmarillo...
