I was born on Christmas day and my mom tells me that I came home in a Christmas stocking knitted by my grandmother. This Christmas stocking however, didn''t have a name on it like the ones given to my brothers and sisters because no one knew if I was going to be a boy or girl. Evidently, from stories my mom tells me - even as an infant, I loved to be in a room full of people and would cry if I was in my room alone. So, I guess maybe that''s why I have always enjoyed performing in front of audiences as young as 6 years old. I have tape recordings of songs that I made up and sang when I was 4 years old. Luckily my parents took notice when I would sing to my Cinderella and Annie records and dance around the house. They soon bought me a microphone and amplifier to practice with at age 6. My first performance in front of an audience was when I was in first grade at my elementary school talent contest. I sang "The Rainbow Connection" and won first place. Well, I''m sure you can guess that I was very excited and with the wonderful support and encouragement of my family, I continued to sing. I started performing at fairs when I was around 8 years old and was hired to perform at a local fair for a half hour at $50 per show for a couple summers. Wow, $50! That was a lot of money to an 8 year old. I thought, I could really get used to this!
Throughout the following years I have performed for various church functions, schools, fairs, conventions, holiday celebrations, weddings, and the like. Some highlights include singing for the National Association of Fairs convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, and singing the National Anthem at major sporting events including NBA games from the age of 9 years and every year thereafter. I was also lucky enough to be one of four winners in the National Kid Talent Quest. This resulted in an opportunity to appear as a host for the Showtime Cable Channel''s family movie programming in New York City, New York. I also made an album of Christian with a local label hymns when I was fourteen which is not currently on the market, but I hope to make it available again soon for sale.
At many of my performances, so many people would tell to make sure I never stop singing and that could listen to me sing forever. Though I sing in other genres, I chose to do a Christian album because I wanted to be able to sing about something that is so important to me. I hope that the music will inspire those that listen and that it will help them feel closer to God.
