Details:
Pamela Stonebrooke, also known as the Intergalactic Diva, is a wild-child jazz vocalist and songwriter. Her contralto voice is deep, lush and textural. The CD is all her own original material and as a songwriter, it has been said that she is an underground urban journalist with an IQ, tackling subjects such as Plastic Surgery (VANITY) Aliens (GREY MATTER and ALIEN) and the women behind the glass booths (SEX UNDER GLASS)
She looks at life and mirrors it back to you, sometimes tongue-in-cheek, or in a serious way, without judgement. Her voice has been described as an "aggressive Billie Holiday, chased with Shirley Bassey, and has a language unto itself." (L.A. Weekly) She is a professional jazz singer, having spent three years in New York City and twenty years in Los Angeles, where she was a favorite jazz vocalist of the late Gene Roddenberry. She has toured Europe and has several independent record deals, and over a dozen of her original songs have been used in film.
Having recently moved to Houston, she is a regular on Diva Row, at the famed Magnolia Bar, with world-class pianist Paul English. See (https://www.tradebit.com) She is slated to perform in several clubs in Paris this spring.
The Inspiration behind the Songs:
As an urban journalist songwriter, I love sharing my inspiration for these tunes.
HEART OF THE GREY MATTER
This is a song about alien abduction. A look into the world of an "experiencer" and how it feels to know/to get that sensing, that an encounter with a bizarre entity is about to occur. A paradigm-shattering experience. Greys, Reptilians, Men in black...yikes!!!
BETTER WORLD
This song muses about life and relationships, and how they could be so different if we weren''t so frantically racing on the treadmill of accomplishment, exhaustion and ego.
ALIEN
This song is about an extraterrestrial that I have communicated with. The middle spoken section is my voice - altered - and the content is an actual, word-for-word transmission from the ET. Talk about the muses talking to you!
VANITY
A sensual bed of music - with a tongue-in-cheek look at the world of plastic surgery...how much is too much...is it Vanity or Insanity? I try to simply pose the question...it is always for you to decide...gorgeous trumpet and flugel horn tracks (for dayzzz) by my supremely talented friend Ralf Rickert.
AMAZON
I research songs, much like an investigative reporter would - I did a private party for McDonald''s Corporation at the time that I was writing this one. I found that McDonalds was clearing land in the Amazon to graze their cattle. When the lyrics say "I''ve seen the chairman - I know the beast," it''s true. I use a Yanomami Indian tribal chant (with 20 tracks of my voice...it''s intense) I learned it by rote from a TV documentary - I don''t know what the chant means - but I''m sure that it doesn''t mean "you deserve a break today."
BLUE SEDUCTION
This song was released on an Indy deal in the UK. I have several songs from that project - but I''ve had great luck with this one getting it into film...one of the few love songs that I''ve written. If you love the ocean...you''ll love this little sanctuary.
THIS TRAIN
This song is a reminder to all artists who feel that they have sacrificed their creativity and desires for the love of someone...who wasn''t really there. An anthem of sorts, to remind you that the twists and turns of life present themselves in order to deepen your "experience" of life itself and that your "dream express" never stops...the journey "is" the destination...
Empowering to artists...so I''m told.
PARADISE LOST
I wrote this song during the L.A riots. I was living one block south of Melrose, near Western Avenue...with fires on three sides of me - burning for 24 hours. I was a prisoner in my own home and it struck me that this garden paradise - this City of Angels had lost it''s beauty under a dark cloud of hatred, prejudice and blind revenge. To me, it seemed to reflect humanity''s loss of spirit and oneness...and our desperate search for justice, grace and beauty in our lives. "I used to want to change the world"...but as someone once said (was it Oscar?)..."Now I just want to leave the room with a little dignity."
BIG NIGHT
This song is about my outrageous and dangerously decadent lifestyle in L.A. I swear, I don''t know how I managed to navigate all the bizarre and perilous roads that I''ve been down, but in the end, I would have done all over again...it''s about living your life with fearless abandon..."I''ll take it out all night...and I''ll sleep all day...a slight hangover is such a small price to pay" "So, let''s have a Big Night."
OUT ON THE STREET
This song is about a desperate and lost woman that I met at a club in Hollywood, called Bordner''s. "She''s a washed out blonde on the streets of L.A." I was in my own personal funk at the time and couldn''t help but ask myself if this could me/my fate, one day. I felt that I was looking at a possible future version of myself. This song still makes me a bit uncomfortable to hear it...I think about her, whenever I hear it, and wonder how she is...
Ralf Rickert, once again, on flugel horn...he is so awesome...Miles who?
SEX UNDER GLASS
I was amazed at the realization of the private sex shows behind the glass booths...again the urban journalist was inspired. I put myself into it - first person - to try to wrap my head around this phenomena...what a strange experience it is...yet, so detached...and safe! I wrote this one, effortlessly...never writing down a lyric. I used my 4-track midi studio, which I used to use to get the control-freak-I-know-just-what-I-want "feel of the tune" down, before taking my songs into the studio...but, when I went in to re-record/master - I realized that I really liked the raw and spontaneous feel of the demo...so, I''m playing all instruments on this raw baby...I thought it was just perfect the way it was...it would have lost the rough edge if I had tried to clean this one up...don''t you think?
THE DARK
Great story about this tune. I was partying with a great girlfriend at her place one night - I had just come out of the studio with some new masters, and, don''t we love her, she always wanted to hear what was next in my music arsenal...so, we''re playing my songs - and she gets a call from Francis Ford, who I guess was invited too. So,he stops by, hears the music when he walks in, and immediately sits in front of the stereo, seemingly mesmerized. He was definitely paying close attention. He told me he loved my voice and songs, and that he was doing a vampire movie and wanted me to write something for it. Well, that was incentive enough. So, this is the song that I wrote...THE DARK...well, I knew enough to send it to Zoetrope in S.F....which I did...could never get through to him on the phone (the gargoyles at the gate, and all)...My guess is that he never heard it. If he had, do you think Annie Lennox would have had the song at the end of Stoker''s Dracula? Ah well...it''s all yours, now...!
Thanks for reading this far...you must be a songwriter too...ha!
I have an arsenal of original music...lots of masters...lots of rough demos...

I''ve just written an bunch of new jazz tunes...getting ready to record them in a world-class way...maybe when I get back from Paris, with a few francs in my pocket.
Warning: This next section is... NOT FOR SISSIES:
This is not for the weak of heart, but, I''ve also written a book on CD ROM
"EXPERIENCER: A JAZZ SINGER''S TRUE ACCOUNT OF EXTRATERRESTRIAL CONTACT"
Available only on CD ROM, with music files and pictures wedded to the text. It is multimedia and multidimensional. It''s available on my alien/out-of-body website (yes, I''m a type-A, shameless, self-promoting over-achiever, and, yes, I''ve earned the title, the Intergalactic Diva)
website: https://www.tradebit.com
It is like nothing you''ve ever experienced, and I''m told that the book does make a compelling case for the reality of ET contact...and the fact that it has been going on throughout history. The physicists and shamans get me, anyway. So, if you''re curious about alien abduction, my eight years of research into the phenomenon just might astonish you....and before you dismiss it and laugh nervously, just know that a Harvard Professor of Psychology and Pulitzer-Prize winning author, the late, Dr. John Mack, wrote the foreword.
And as if that were not enough, I also teach a One-On-One Out-Of-Body Intensive. I teach people to leave their bodies consciously - in other words, you can take your full awareness with you. I have taught physicists and aerospace engineers...they know, like me (in fact, it is what they are currently attempting to quantify) that consciousness is non-local...and I teach them how to "experience" that non-locality. To go beyond physical form, with your consciousness in tact, is the ultimate expansion of mind...talk about shattering your paradigm. That''s what I am here for!
Shivai!
