"CLUELESS" is the most recent album by Steve Goldberger & the Fringe Locals. Once again, Steve and his pals put together a new album of diverse material. With thirteen new original songs, Steve hits the mark, crossing over from folk to country, good old rock and roll, blues, pop, jazz and tribal rhythms. This album follows the route of his previous endeavours with writing and production levels moving up an extra notch.

For over 30 years Steve has been in demand as a band leader, freelance bass player and vocalist. He keeps very busy with a diverse list of folk, jazz, blues, country and R&B artists in both the Toronto and Niagara-On-The-Lake areas. He is often actively working in five or more bands, including regular appearances in the Niagara region with several local artists, as well as his own two bands the Fringe Locals and the Niagara Rhythm Section. In Toronto he is known for his bass and vocal work with singer songwriter, Gayle Ackroyd , bluesman Steve Grisbrook, Dawn Duvall of the Blue Willow band and as a founding member of 1990''s Beach area favourites, Blazin'' Saddles.

Over the years Steve has also worked with many other bands including, The Fridgidaires, Midnight Angel, Mark Haines, Margaret Crystal...and most notably from 1972 thru 1978, Canadian newgrass legends, Black Creek. He also led his own bands in the Toronto area in the early 1980''s (Goldie Lox and the Bagels, Elephants Gerald and several Black Creek reunion bands...)

After surviving open heart surgery, he released the CD, "Come From the Heart" which was recorded live over three nights in the spring of 2000. As Steve splits his time between Toronto and Niagara-On-The-Lake, he has been dubiously dubbed the "fringe local". These days, in between Steve''s other freelance gigs and studio work, the Fringe Locals have found a regular home for themselves at the Angel Inn in Niagara-on-the-Lake, where they have appeared just about on a monthly basis since 1995. The personnel has settled into a regular ensemble of players which varies slightly from gig to gig. The arrangements are tighter yet still have the same fresh adventure.

They released two new albums in 2002. The first of which "THE NIAGARA RHYTHM PROJECT". contains all new original instrumental compositions. It is getting a great response and receives regular radio air play across Canada on CBC and college radio as well as on stations all over the globe. (USA, New Zealand, France...)

The second album released September/02, "Gumbo Dreams" is Steve''s first album of original "singer/songwriter" material. Steve was heavily involved in writing music in his Black Creek days (mid 70''s) and even won a Genie award for best original score in 1975. Now, finally after thirty years of playing other writer''s tunes and a lifetime of experience, he has gotten back to writing again. The songs cover the wide range of styles that have influenced him over the years resulting in a "gumbo-type" mix of roots, country-rock, blues and folk.
