If you like reflective music and have a spiritual or/and philosophical bend, whatever language you speak, this is for you. Michel Meiffren is a poet musician who expresses himself primarily in French but is connected with a variety of cultures. A Mediterranean looking baby boomer, Michel was born in Montfort Sur Argens in the South of France from a father from Provence and a mother from the West Indies. He spent his early years in Western Africa, in the Ivory Coast, before his family settled in the Paris area. Michel began to read and write poetry very early and started performing as a teenager in the suburbs of Paris. A keen student of the French songwriting and poetic tradition as well as an avid consumer of world music, Michel forged his own style of contemplative folk music he sometimes calls “the Gallic blues”. In his early years, Michel travelled extensively around Europe working and living in several countries before finally moving to the United States where he settled. A therapist by trade, Michel currently resides in Astoria, Oregon, where he is the director of an addiction treatment program and moonlights as a classical music DJ and community reporter for a local radio station.
