Details:
SONSOLES (pronounced sone-so-les) was formed in Los Angeles, CA in the fall of 2006 by founding members Steve Baltazar and Cesar Abrego, two friends who were looking to create a unique, modern Latin Rock sound. Jóse Hernandez, lead guitarist extraordinaire and longtime friend of the duo joined shortly thereafter, having already been involved in several heady rock groups and also looking to delve into something fresh. With the addition of Los Angeles natives Lonnie Moreno (drums) and Cien Fuegos (Rapper) SONSOLES the “band” was officially born. Derived from an unusual Spanish name and fronted by Jose Hernandez, SONSOLES is a Latin Rock band fusing several musical elements ranging from Rock, Pop and Reggaeton to Salsa and Folk, all within the realm of the rapidly emerging Spanish Rock or “Rock en Español” scene. With a truly global, musical collaboration of members from all over the map (Spain, Mexico & El Salvador to name a few!), SONSOLES is a one of a kind fusion of Latin sounds that appeal to both Spanish and English ears alike. Lush guitars blast off over Latin rhythms combining many musical ingredients to deliver a sound that can at once be both difficult to categorize and refreshingly familiar. Hernandez’s slick guitar prowess and Baltazar’s own, unexpected approach to chord progressions bring an edge to every sound, calling to light influences ranging from Ozomatli, Los Amigos Invisibles and Juanes to more global sounds like Manu Chao, Silvio Rodriguez and Maná. Abrego’s “rockero” approach to moving bass lines combined with Moreno’s hard rock drumming culminate in an edgy, sexy, in-your-face sound that crosses borders and challenges mainstream thought by reinventing the concept of fusion. SONSOLES’ infectiously fresh sound breaks conventional molds typically associated with Latin Rock and is the spark that has helped the band garner the genuine appreciation of a growing legion of fans.
Ahora, en espanol! :)
