Details:
Dan and Sandy Adler have been married and have been performing together since 1984. They are both graduates of
Crown College. They have two teenage children, Danielle and Ben, and live in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area.

From 1985 to 1996, they served at the Church of the Open Door (currently in Maple Grove, MN) where Dan was the Worship Pastor. From 1990 to 1996, Sandy served as the worship leader and music coordinator for Open Door’s vital “Women in Worship” Ministry. The Adler’s saw the church grow from 350 attendee’s to over 5000 in the weekend worship services during that time. Under Dan’s leadership, Open Door had a worship ministry involving over 145 musicians in worship teams. In 1994, while still working at Open Door, Dan was also hired as a part time staff member of the Promisekeeper’s ministry. He traveled about six times a year to different cities around the country leading worship at Promisekeeper’s Foundations seminars.

Dan and Sandy have released four recordings of their own, “Take Time to Listen”, “People Everywhere”, “Songs of Courage” and in 2008, their first instrumental project featuring Native American Flute and guitar entitled “Wind of the Spirit”.

While working at Church of the Open Door, Dan established the record label “Out of the Door Music”, and released 4 worship CD’s featuring songs written by Dan and others in the church and utilizing church musicians.

Dan has written over 150 songs - eighteen of which were featured on Open Door recordings. Ninety-six other of his songs have been featured on the ten other recording projects that Dan has been a part of. Eight of his songs have also been published in the United Methodist Publishing House’s “Come Celebrate” series and his song “All I Need is You” was put in the United Methodist Hymnal supplement “The Faith We Sing” in 2001. Dan has 8 of his songs published by Lillenas Publishing and the Christian and Missionary Alliance added 5 of his songs to their new Hymnal in 2003 as well. Dan has also had songs published by Word Music. In 1999, international African-American worship leader Ron Kenoly recorded Dan’s song “It is Good” in Rome, Italy through Integrity Music and re-released it on his “Lift Him Up Collection” in 2005. In the fall of 2000, Dan’s song “What We Really Need” was in the top 10 on the CCRB national Praise and Worship radio charts for 14 weeks. In the winter of 2001, Dan’s song “Right Here, Right Now” was in the top 20 of the CCRB Praise and Worship charts for 8 weeks and in 2002 his song “To You” was the number one Praise and Worship song on the CCRB praise and worship charts for 6 weeks.

In June of 1996, Dan resigned from his Music Minister position at the Church of the Open Door so that he and Sandy could begin a new para-church ministry called “Heart of the City Ministries”. This ministry is primarily focused on promoting and leading, regular city-wide worship celebrations in Minneapolis and in St. Paul. These events are focused on crossing denominational and racial barriers in uniting believers in worship and prayer. The vision is to be a bridge-building activity between races and denominations to encourage, strengthen and unite the diverse Body of Christ in their area through celebrative, musical worship experiences. These events are led by Dan and Sandy and their 22 piece inter-racial Heart of the City Worship Band. The Adler’s also travel outside of the Twin Cities with the varying sized versions of the Heart of the City Worship Band doing worship concerts focusing on unity in the Body of Christ. They are involved in about 35 events a year.

The Heart of the City Worship Band has recorded three CD’s featuring diverse styles of music representing the ethnic diversity of the band that Dan has written.

Besides the ministry of Heart of the City, Dan provides worship training weekends in individual congregations called Worship Renewal Weekends. Sandy is an accomplished painter and artist and she combines her music, art and speaking gifts as a women’s event speaker as well. Dan and Sandy have been regular featured worship leaders at the Billy Graham Training Center “The Cove” and Dan has also been a featured conference speaker at events such as Music Minnesota and Music Texas and Music Florida. From 2004 through 2006, Dan served as the Worship Pastor at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Currently, Dan also serves as the choir director of staff and residents for the Union Gospel Mission Changed Lives Choir in St. Paul.
