Auralis – Stone of Destiny
Since 847 AD, and the time of Keneth MacAlpin the first King of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny has been used as a throne on which the kings of Scotland have sat during their coronation ceremonies. Over the centuries the Stone has come to symbolise Scotland’s freedom and independence as a nation. Scotland has fulfilled its destiny as prophesised by the ancient Gaelic warrior seers, and has developed into one of the great, most liked, small nations in the world. It has not only given to the world great philosophers, engineers, doctors, artists, inventors, writers and poets, but has enriched the world with its music and songs.
In this outstanding album, Auralis celebrates the legacy of Scotland’s musical heritage by beautifully arranging and orchestrating twenty-one great traditional songs by Burns and other songwriters for the Garritan Virtual Orchestra. This is indeed a great tribute album dedicated to Scotland’s destiny in music by a world-class music arranger, as can be heard in this brilliant masterful album by Auralis.
Notes by composer and arranger: Robert Sangster.
