Kimera studied and majored with a B.A. in French Literature at Sung Sin University in Seoul. Naturally she Left her native Korea to France where she completed a Masters degree course at the Sorbonne in Paris.
At the same time unknown to her parents, Kimera wanted to reconcile her love for the opera with a burgeoning interest in modern music. This culminated in her deciding, in December 1984, to set aside her promising career as an opera diva to create the controversial classic-pop fusion recording: THE LOST OPERA. It promptly began hitting the top of the international charts. Kimera, the blazing rebel of opera, joins together the two most diverse musical cultures to originate a new style of music utilizing traditional operatic arias and a modern rhythmic pop beat, fused together and calls it POPERA or OPERA ROCK.
Who could remain indifferent to a voice that covers four octaves? Behind Kimera''s role as a popular singer lies an extraordinary heritage. Her real name is Kim Hong-Hee. Her family is direct decendant of King Kyungsoon and dates back more than 2000 years. She has also been accorded letters, certificates, titles, diplomas and honours for her fantastic talents and academic achievements in France.
Her father, a Korean industrialist, hoped she would become a professor of literature. Kimera had other plans, and despite tradition, family customs, and her father''s wishes, she decided that nothing could prevent her from realizing a life long dream to be a singer. Before age 20, Kimera''s voice had a range of four octaves, and quickly became recognized as one of the most beautiful voices in the East. Her father remained opposed to an artistic carrier.
Nevertheless and behind her father''s back she joined The prestigious "Ecole Normale De Musique de Paris", while still following her degree course at The Sorbonne. With many years of arduous vocal studies, Kimera has proven that dreams come true. She graduated obtaining a Diploma Superior in Lyrical Art with unanimity and congratulation of the jury composed of her peers.
Today, with more than 250 European television appearances and a dynamic stage presence, Kimera blasts open the boundaries of the world''s most sacred musical field: Opera, and by adding a rhythmic background to operatic areas, once reserved to a privileged few, Kimera pierced the "sound Barrier" with - THE LOST OPERA. and delivered it to the people.
Opera to the people, giving birth "POPERA" era!
