Details:
“Funky Mustard” is a Musical project started by Songwriter/Guitarist/Producer Larry D. White & Drummer/
Producer Kevin Crenshaw in the summer of 2002. The 2 have played together since 1994 in a few different Bands. They started “Funky Mustard” as a collective musical project, with an approach to writing music without format, or genre. Their influences of Donald Byrd, Pat Metheny, Weather Report, and Herb Alpert show through in this music. One of the best bands coming out of Houston, TX, these guys really know how to bring a song to life. Their 5th CD “Jazza Mundo” is full of Eclectic World Music, with a dose of Jazz , and Rock mixed in for full flavor .
#9- Strummer Boy & #13- Cello Boy are sure to be this years Holiday Favorites.
~ What the Critic''s are saying ~
“Here’s a bunch of Jazzbos from Texas that are simply out for a good time. Not at all concerned with where to draw the line, they merrily genre splice all kinds of elements from world and jazz mixing it up with elements from contemporary masters they enjoy. Fueled by the simpatico that comes from playing together for a while, this ensemble makes their moves with an easy grace that makes it fun to listen to. The kind of stuff you want to have around when it’s time to kick back” .
Chris Spector – “Midwest Records”
“Funky Mustard Is a bit more contemporary and rock/pop formatted than something typically jazz, but what would be considered "typical jazz" in 2008? Exactly. If Chicago (as in the band) were a young band making the rounds today and they didn''t bother with singing, they probably would come up with the kind of music one hears here. The horn section is tight. It could easily be used as the background in a surfing or sailing movie, but this isn''t Yacht Rock, nor is this free jazz or something too far from the norm. It''s accessible, and yet you can’t quite pinpoint what it is that you like about them, but you do”.
John Book - “The Run of the Groove”
“Funky Mustard defies description. Their infectious melodies and heartfelt tones are the stuff that legends are made of”.
