In spring, 2008, Vintage Guitar Magazine reviewed this album noting, "Loe and the Nastys deal in music that isn''t popular with young folks anymore; equal parts jazz, Jobim-influenced Latin music, and even a little Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks, this quartet has a smokey sound that evokes a feeling as cool as the other side of the bed."
In October of that same year, the internationally renowned Dakota Jazz Club described Loe & the Nastys as a young group that "plays pop and soul that’s sweet, smart, and a whole lot of fun."
Loe & the Nastys is a fresh voice in the Twin Cities and Bay Area. Their original music fuses the improvisation of jazz, the structure of popular music, and an acute sense of group interplay. They draw their influence from artists such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, The Ben Darwish Trio, and Erykah Badu. In April, their tunes were featured on https://www.tradebit.com. Three months later, their music was highlighted in Yahoo! News as soundtracks for visual artist Phil Hansen. In January 2008, Loe & the Nastys'' first full length CD and was named Editor''s Pick on CD https://www.tradebit.com. This album, Little Tragedies, is their second project, released November 1st 2008 at The Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis. Enjoy!
