SEAN LOCKE
For Sean Locke, music isn''t really a choice...it is just a way of life. Locke was born and raised in the small town of Iola, Kansas in southeastern corner of the state. Growing up with his Grandparents, Locke credits them for his passion for country music, since they always had music playing in the house. When asked which artists influenced him the most, he responds, " The usual suspects: Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins and The Wilburn Brothers." And it is obvious when listening to his songs, which often include a unique mix of these legendary artists.
Sean first realized his love for performing at age sixteen when he first sang on the Opry in Burlington, Kansas, which led to a few years of performing with his band on the Midwestern club circuit and VFW Halls. Locke then made the move to Nashville to pursue his career in music. "Since music is all I know - it''s my only real skill - I thought Nashville was the only place I could actually make a living." Soon after arriving in Nashville, Locke started writing and soon landed a publishing deal where he further developed his talent.
Sean recently enjoyed his first hit as a songwriter when his song "Barbed Wire And Roses" became the breakthrough single for RCA artists Pinmonkey. He has had his songs recorded by Gary Allan, Bruce Robison, Kieran Kane and others. In addition, Sean recorded the Harlan Howard classic, "Bye Bye Baby Blues," for the film The Messengers.
Kieran Kane, a successful and highly respected singer/songwriter, has said about Locke: "In a musical world of posture, smoke and mirrors, Sean is reality."
