Details:
Jim Sandberg comes from a long history of musicians and writers in his family. It wasn''t until many years of singing and playing in bands that he began to have an
urge to be a songwriter (not too many years ago). Until then it was something to toy with, but after sending in a few songs in a short time his songs were picked up by major publishers and put on hold. Lately with his own publishing co. he has had success with radio and general sales although nothing outstanding but, has concentrated mostly on writing not marketing. The songs on this album are all melodies and lyrics invented by him. Only exception is the lyrics on the songs: "Point of view" and "Little West Texas Town" which was written by Mark Powers. Track number 2 "At Times Like This" was written at a festival in Black Mt. N. Carolina in a couple of days while the others were a much longer labor. "Dust On my Boots" was inspired while living around rodeos, reading about and seeing famous riders from central and eastern South Dakota. "Little West Texas Town." for instance could be related to Jim living in El Paso, Texas for two years. "2004Ever" is a song about his realizing of the importance of the millennium. "Sanddollar" was completed after a visiting the beaches of Pennsicola, Florida. "Sugar Bowl" was an inspiration glued together by listening to the news in a traffic snarl and learning about a major football franchise coming to Nashville. Sandberg, for the name''s sake, has tried to connect with the common people of this country. He has written his songs in a simple understanding way that can help us comunicate and find something new in the songs as they are heard each time. For him, poetry is a natural way to look at life and through the music medium he uses his abilities to shape the art of the music.
Jim Sandberg thanks his wife and family for hanging in there through the long process of completing the first album. He thanks his friends, musicians, Frank Arnett,Garland Craft,Kim May, Dennis Heavy, Jim Antrim,Irene Goodnight, Pat and Petes critques, BMI, NSAI,SGA, music row in general, There are two new albums in the process of being written and recorded by him.
