Ulubulu is a side instrumental project for folk/psych artist Tom Hanson, whose acoustic music has been featured as a "Top Editor''s Pick" on CD Baby and featured on natonal TV shows. An outlet for musical ideas and sonic meanderings that cannot find a home in Tom''s quiet folk music, Ululbulu features a distinct mix of ambient, trance, space-music and dreamscape textures.
The music on Solar Flux was inspired by a lifelong love of music that floats, shimmers, drifts, drones; of sounds ethereal, spacey and dreamlike. While there are comparisons to modern electronic artists, the touchstones are more classic space-rock, prog-rock, early ambient music and even the shoegazer sound. One recent listener offered the following description:
