Details:
These 15 carefully selected and recorded songs were recorded for CD in 2006. The first song and title track, “Wait for the Wagon” begins with the sound of old rolling wagon wheels -- and once things get rolling, the songs (written by Carter Stanley, H. Clay Work and Leo Wood, as well as Ricky Skaggs, Jimmy Buffet, Tom Russell, and many others) don’t stop.
If you sit on your sofa – or maybe your rocking chair – while listening to this music and close your eyes, you will be transported back to the time of the pioneers of the Old West, when people used to play this kind of music on their back porches or in their barns.
As the last song of the CD plays, the sound of old rolling wagon wheels returns, never slowing or stopping. In the same way, the wheels continue turning for big STONE and the Good Old Country Sound, perhaps until their next CD.

A suggestion includes “Celebration” from Bill Clifton, accompanied by Rene on the Autoharp, “Arkansas Traveller,” is a traditional song featuring the clawhammer banjo, “Somebody Stole my Gal,” a ragtime piece from 1918 and “Marching through Georgia” written by Henry Clay Work in 1865. A further highlight is a folk song originally from Finland called “Metsakukkia” (which makes it rather exotic in comparison to the other songs in the collection) that became better known as “Forest Flowers” in the US.

In singling out these songs, it should not be implied that the other songs are not worth hearing; on the contrary, every track earned highest regard.

big STONE Old Time Country Band was formed in 1998 and have performed with the current line-up since 2004. Their harmonic vocals are accompanied by guitar, banjo, autoharp, dulcimer, mandolin and double bass. An authentic 1850''s outfit completes the ensemble.
Following the tradition of the early stringbands, big STONE''s repertoire trace the birth of country music through its evolution to bluegrass.
Due to their close association with roots of country music, big STONE are delighted to be invited to perform at Switzerland''s most prestigious country / bluegrass festivals.

________________________________________
The band:
Pete ''Two Feathers'' Erb: With his german halfsized double bass, Pete is the foundation on which the songs are built. His talents also have him singing harmonies.

Godi Gammeter: Plays rhythm and lead guitar on his Martin HD-28, and sings lead on many of our songs.

Rene Zentner: Rene is multi-talented and plays many musical influences. On his precious, vintage 1920 Vega Tubaphone deluxe style No.9 banjo he plays clawhammer, on Gibson ''Earl Scruggs'' banjo plays bluegrass. He performs autoharp (George F. Orthey Jr) and dulcimer (Washburn) and sings lead and harmony vocals too.

Beat Heri: Builds on Pete''s solid bass with rhythm on his ''1918 A4 Gibson'' mandolin. Beat adds to Big STONE''s impressive harmonic vocals.
