Details:
Award-winning Ottawa singer songwriter Meredith Luce brings her poet’s lyrics, unforgettable vocals and masterful guitar playing to her impressive second album, Neck of the Woods. Meredith is a writer and singer of sublime songs, according to the Ottawa Sun''s Allan Wigney. Her music has come into its own in the new album with its growing emphasis on folk-rock, and alt-country tunes.
Meredith draws from the Canadian landscape for Great Lake Swimmers; the country waltz, Snow Country; the rock tune, April Showers; and Chickadee, an aw-shucks country duet about love in the snows of the Canadian winter. The edgier rock tunes - Neck of the Woods; the lively, upbeat Lawnmower Dogs, and the old style rock tune Pennies in the Well – focus on details of urban and suburban life. Big City Girl, selected for a compilation album produced by North Country Public Radio and Counting Down tell stories of people Meredith knows. The opening song, Southern Skies, is a dedication to family members in the Shenandoah Valley, and the sweet closing song, On a Limb, played on a vintage tenor guitar, is a personal story about fears surmounted.
Meredith, now twenty, has performed professionally since she was sixteen. She has played festivals and venues across Ontario, Quebec and New England. CBC Radio has featured her music in national and regional programs such as Vinyl Café, Go!, Canada Live, Bandwidth and on Radio 3 podcasts. She has been on national TV across Canada and has been featured in a live concert on North Country Public Radio in northern New York.
