Win Naung Orchestra
An indescribable mixture of classical Burmese court music, modern pop and electronic fusion. This is a live recording of a street performance in Mandalay, Myanmar (December 2007). The all-night street festivals of upper Burma are a combination of dance and evolving musical forms that are performed by traveling troupes in temporary bamboo theaters. The traditional and electronic players are on opposite sides of the stage and play off each other in a reciprocating performance. The Win Naung troupe is one of the leading innovators of this art form. Fantastic and unlike anything else.
