Bassist Reggie Hamilton has long been known for his exceptional work with many of today''s artists. His ability to absorb and recreate a style of music has ensured his standing as a first call musician. He has performed with Seal, Babyface, Billy Childs, Bette Midler, Diane Reeves, and so many others. He can also be heard on recordings by Anita Baker, Carl Burnett, Stanley Clarke, David Lynch, Bobby Lyle, Warren Zevon and literally everything in between...
This self produced work entitled "My Village", is Reggie''s first outing as leader. This effort is a reflection of Reggie''s desire to fuse many styles of music. " I grew up listening to everything as a child and I can''t help loving and playing all types of music." From the funky calling of "Shoutz to ma Brothez" to the gutbucket gospel blues "Redemption", each composition is has solid grooves and rich textures. I am especially drawn to the post-bop fusion cut "Speechless" and the interludes. Guitarist Carl Burnett said, "My Village reminds me of a time when we could listen to a whole album and not just a tune or two."
And of course, no one can say more about this tour de force lineup. Each artist appearing on this recording has long been known as a genius on his or her chosen instrument. It is a testament to the kind of record that this is, an album of real music by real musicians. This album could not be complete without a mix from multi grammy nominee, engineer/producer, Jess Sutcliffe. If this had been a vinyl record, I would have worn it out and already bought another one. Enjoy!!!
