Details:
Raices del Viento consists of two Ecuadorian musicians, Rodrigo Orellana and Max Ulloa, formed Raices del Viento, a group who at first, aimed to go beyond Andean borders, bringing forth all of the musical elements- a nostalgia with infinite harmonious possibilities; and above all, a deep rooted folk music tradition and the need to interpret it in an original way. Toward this end, they brouth in Jose Sanchez , a Bolivian-American singer who possessed the innate quality of singing which is known musically as a universal range.
And so they create two albums, Llanto del Tomebamba (Weeping of the Tomebamba) and Luz de Libertad ( Freedom''s Light) traditional music from the Andes. Thirsting to expand their horizons ever more, the artist sought to incorporate the flavor and color of Afro Caribbean rhythms into their Andean music as a means of contrast to the peaceful and nostalgic ring that it possed. They decided on their objetive; a genre where all forms may be employed; were zamponas, toyos, charangos and quenas may inmersed in tropical rhythms and the voice emanates as the element of balance. In this way and with these intentions, Raices de Viento would like to present their latest release, AMALGAMA, with our goal being to demonstrate yhat in the wondrous universe that is music, no borders or barriers exist. It is our continuing challenge, from this project on, to continue doing so.
