Valerie Stephens, backed by the best musicians Boston, MA., USA offers, soothes, teases, cajoles and thoroughly entertains audiences with her renditions of blues, jazz and spoken word at New England nightclubs and eateries, including Beehive,Scullers Jazz Club, Regattar Bar, Ryle’s Jazz Bar, House Of Blues, Les Zygomates, Limbo’s, Slade’s Bar & Grill, Bob’s Southern Bistro, Mirage and Boston’s premiere Steppin’ Out as a featured artist.
The Valerie Stephens Group has become a celebrated attraction at the Beantown Jazz Festival, Elma Lewis Playhouse In The Park Concert Series, the Lexington Arts Festival, Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center’s Summer Concerts in the Courtyard, JazzBoston Festival and the Boston “Ahts” Festival.
Her first CD Potpourri has received great reviews and can be heard locally on WGBH Radio Jazz and Blues programming. Production for her second CD, working title Nina & Friends, is underway.
She was well received in Berlin, Germany during a series of concerts as featured guest artist with internationally known Jazz violinist, Valentin Gregor.
Valerie has created three concert productions –

* “Sweet & Salty: Dressed To The Nines” a raucous tribute to Classic Blues Singers.
* The Art & Times of Nina Simone, a tribute to the cultural icon Dr. Nina Simone whose music spoke the soul of a tumultuous time.
In addition to Stephens’ work as a vocalist, she is also a professional, well respected Storyteller working throughout New England in museums, libraries and schools. She is a recognized Writer and Creative Arts Teacher. As an Actor, Valerie spent seven years touring nationally with the Underground Railway Theater, an internationally award winning theater company as the lead female actor.
