Details:
Elis Casado, piano, keyboard player and composer from the Basque Country (Spain)leads a quartet for this solo project under his own name and a brand-new CD called ‘Ripples’. Six original compositions plenty of atmospheric textures with an exquisite jazzy flavour.

Elis received his first musical lessons from his father. He also received guitar lessons from a local teacher at age 12. But later became interested in the keyboards and piano. This was the time ''when Dinosaurs -Keith Emerson (ELP), Jon Lord (Deep Purple) and Richard Wright (Pink Floyd) -Ruled the Earth''

After playing in several rock bands (Suite Purpura, Maremagnum...) he started studying jazz intensively for a period of three years. Then, he toured the whole Basque Country with singer-songwriter Txuma Murugarren. After this tour, he got involved in two projects: one with ex-members of ''Sasoi Ilunak'', the other a jazz-funk quintet; but neither of these two adventures took off really.

In 2002 he joined the jazz-blues band Basin Street Café; the climax being the performance in the 10th anniversary of Cazorla''s International Blues Festival, where they presented live ''Takeaway Gumbo'', recorded in April 2004. Elis contributed to this record with four original compositions. One of them was used in the soundtrack of the Basque film ''Txakurkalea'' (Dog Street), written and directed by David Civico.

In 2006 Elis took part in the formation of the jazz quintet Bemsha Bounds. After numerous gigs in the jazz club scene of the Basque Country, they recorded the album ''Room Full of Swing'' ; an album that was presented live in Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazzaharrean 2007 Jazz Festival. Elis contributed to this album with three original compositions; one of them (''Thru the Mirror''), is a real sonic adventure he feels very proud of.

In september 2008 he recorded his first solo work titled ''Ripples'' at Groove Studios in Bilbao with sound engineer Alvaro García and Mikel Sasia (guitar), Rik Bernabé (electric and upright bass) and Aritza de Castro (drums). Elis presented this record live at Santurtzi''s Jazz & Blues Festival in october 2008.
