Somewhere in the World is the debut of vocalist Michelle Pirret. This newcomer fresh to the New York jazz scene, has been called "a young kitten growing into a fine jazz cat" by legendary vocalist Anita O''Day.

Pirret has shared the bandstand with instrumentalists such as Harold Mabern, George Coleman, Jay Leonhart, Valery Ponomarev, and Howard Alden. On her debut recording, she chooses to fuse elements of traditional jazz, Latin influences, and pop standards to bring to your ears a fresh take on the music of composer Bernard Bierman.

At age 95, Bierman is a Tin Pan Alley traditionalist whose songs have been showcased by filmmaker Woody Allen to recordings made by Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Billy Eckstine, Jimmy Heath, Guy Lombardo, Harry James, and Don Cherry to name a few. With over three generations between them, it is a true New York story that brought together singer and songwriter delivering to the listener a rare air of tribute and celebration.

The project was co-produced by Jeffrey Lesser, Grammy Award winning engineer and producer who has worked with some of the finest musical talent in the recording industry including The Chieftains, Lou Reed, Joni Mitchell, Sting, Barbra Sreisand, Diana Krall, and Linda Ronstadt.
