Music is not made in a vacuum. Life enters into it – wanted or not.
Sven has made a beautiful, strong and fresh-sounding recording.
However, the way to the making of it is never simple.
Peter Walter, my old student from New York City many years ago, taught Sven at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen. Then in 2000 Sven and I met after some master classes and workshops in 1999. He started studying with me privately and has continued in one way or the other ( including 2 years Masters Degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “ Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig ) until today. Producing this, his debut – CD for Patrick´s new label has been very satisfying for me and also big fun!
Sven really came up to the challenges of his first CD . Some of his most passionate and expressive playing is found on this recording. We thank Patrick Gertis for the amazing recording studio and phenomenal Steinway piano and Kai Mader for his great recording and mixing.
