Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Flutist Lindsay Leach enjoys a varied performance career in the US and abroad. Lindsay earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the Peabody Conservatory studying with Laurie Sokoloff. In 2004, she became the first person to graduate from the Piccolo Performance program at Peabody and shortly thereafter enrolled in the Royal Academy of Music in London, UK studying modern flute with Clare Southworth, early flutes with Lisa Beznosiuk, and piccolo with Patricia Morris. She finished her European studies at the 2005 Académie International d’Eté de Nice, France with Philippe Bernold. In addition, she has studied as a scholarship student with Robert Langevin at the Orford Arts Centre, Orford, Canada, Mark Sparks at the Aspen Music Festival, Aspen Colorado, and Marina Piccinini at the Peabody International Flute Masterclass, Baltimore, Maryland.

An avid orchestral musician, Lindsay has performed under the batons of David Zinman, James Conlon, André Previn, Gustav Meyer, David Robertson, Edward Polochick, Lan Shui, Maris Jansens, Edward Cumming, Murry Sidlin, and Josep Caballé-Domenech in groups such as the Moscow Ballet Orchestra, the Opera Carolina, the Fayetteville Symphony, the Aspen Festival Orchestra, the Amadeus Orchestra and Chorus in the UK, and the Peter maxwell Davies Ensemble of the Royal Academy of Music.

As a soloist, Lindsay''s has been featured with the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra and the Moore County Concert Band. Her most recent solo projects include the 2008 and 2005 Jean-Pierre Rampal International Flute Competitions in Paris, the 2008 Frank Bowen Young Artist Competition, the 2007 Flute Society Mid-South Young Artist Competition, 2006 Byron Hester and 2006 Myrna Brown Solo Flute Competitions, and the National Flute Association 2004 Piccolo Artist and 2007 Baroque Artist Competitions. In November 2007, Lindsay was one of only three American flutists to be invited to compete at the first Maxence Larrieu International Flute Competition in Nice, France.

Lindsay currently serves on the faculties of UNC Pembroke and Methodist University in North Carolina. She is also a recipient of the North Carolina Arts Council''s Regional Artist Grant with funding from the state of North Carolina and local arts councils in Cumberland, Lee, Moore, New Hanover, Harnett and Richmond counties., through which she has had the opportunity to produce her first solo flute CD One of a Kind with London based pianist Philip Richardson.

Philip Richardson is a young prize-winning pianist and accompanist based in the London, U.K. After growing up in the Netherlands, Philip was an instrumental exhibitioner at the University of Cambridge, where he studied piano with Roger Vignoles before continuing his piano accompaniment studies at the Royal Academy of Music with Michael Dussek and Michael Young. He has won various prizes and awards, including the Evelyn German Prize for best British accompanist, the South Square Trust Award, and the Brian Hitch Award for accompanists.

Philip has received masterclasses from many reputable musicians, including Julius Drake, Josef Seiger, Rudolf Jansen, Andrew West, Jan-Philip Schultze and Clifford Benson. He performs regularly as an accompanist, pianist and repetiteur throughout the U.K. and abroad including recitals in St John’s Smith Square London, the Leeds Lieder Festival, the Bloomsbury, Oxford and Goldaming Music Festivals, Durham Castle and Southwark Cathedral, as well as concerts in the Netherlands and Italy.


This CD features composers whose works are unique pieces in that they are the only works of their kind known for the flute. Each piece on this CD is an individual in that it is either the only sonata, only solo piece, or only piece altogether for the flute by each of these composers.
