A native of Napa Valley in Northern California, Leigh learned piano at age seven and at the age of 11 was inspired by the Beatles to learn guitar. When he turned 18 he went on the road to play professionally, touring internationally with the folk-rock group Serendipity Singers.
A graduate of Sonoma State University with honors and a music degree, Leigh plays jazz, classical, rock and blues . Favorite guitars include his vintage 1959 Gretsch Country Club, Takamine Sante Fe classical and 1974 Martin D-18.
Leigh Wyckoff has performed with many jazz artists including Grammy winner Paul McCandless, Richie Cole, Bennie Wallace, Jerry Hahn, Frank Morgan, Mel Graves, Peter Welker, Teja Bell, Evan Marshall, Jackie King, and many others. He has also recorded with legendary mandolinist David Grisman, harmonica virtuoso Norton Buffalo, violinist Tom Rigney, and pianist Suzanne Ciani.
His smooth lyrical guitar style has been influenced by Chet Atkins, Paco de Lucia, and George Benson, and his jazz arrangements have been influenced by groups such as Steely Dan and Spyro Gyra, as have his compositions been influenced by his favorite composer, Beethoven.
