Jaeon Sleepwalker
Although he's a quarter of the Black Lung Brothers, Jaeon is also hard at work on a solo career that he's hoping will be kick started by his debut album Sleepwalker.
On the strength of Last Laugh, he may be on his way to making it a successful attempt. He teams up with Tommy Mula and Nicole Zollo for one of the album's better, mixtape ready tracks. Both Jaeon and Tommy deliver sharp, tightly spun rhymes over a strong head noddin' beat interspersed with Nicole's phat hook. He keeps up the same impressive level on One Day and the thick, soulful stylings of Daybreak. Of Course the Black Lung Brothers make the required appearances. It all comes together for the crew on the posse cut Like That. Tommy Mula, Dor and Manny Thornton all do justice to the track with intelligent rhymes and tight deliveries. Throw in a phat Bee Gees sample in the hook for good measure and you have another phatty on your hands. Jaeon's radio cut (if radio were open enuff to spin it) is the very catchy Here We Go. Add the cleverly constructed title track Sleepwalker with it's straight up 1950's "I can't believe that sample works" sound and you already have enough to confidently assert that Jaeon may make somebody alot of money some day...
While the Hip Hop in Jaeon's music is hardcore , his personality is not. Props to any artist who has the confidence to make music in his own image without a wasted eye towards "keepin' it real." The result is real good Hip Hop.
