The Underwoods are based out of Nettleton, MS. They have lived there all their life and think it is the best place to live. They have sung the gospel most all their life and count it a privilege. They are a live band just like you would see them in the studio or on the platform performing. The instruments are acoustic guitars, fiddle, mandolin, electric guitar, upright bass, and harmonica. The Vocals are all Underwoods as follows: Bervin, Nell, Danny, Jonathan, and Brooke.
They are folks that love the Lord and believe that “The Best” is what God requires of his people. There’s a variety in this cd between Country Gospel and Gospel Blues. It’s soul thrilling, heart warming, and also a layed back sound of just feeling the presence of God.
It’s a mixture of Old Hymns such as “Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior by Fanny Crosby, as you know she was blind and she wrote it from this text: Genesis 18:3. Abraham was sitting is his tent door in the heat of the day when three men appeared and told the good news about Sarah. That’s the kind of God we sing about. Another one is “I’m Gonna Sing” by Hank Williams-such a powerful song through all his heartaches. Eight of the songs was written by The Underwoods from the title cut “Mercy To Stand” to “Will You Meet Me Over Yonder” to “His Name Is Jesus” to “Road To Heaven” and also another “Jesus, Jesus,Jesus”(that name above all names). These songs were carefully chosen for this cd.
The Underwoods have felt the need to sing in many prisons over the past years, these are people that are cut off from society, they are very lonely and some have spent the most part of their life there. They spend time in prayer, the study of God’s word, they have live bands, and they are such a blessing. We always come out with such joy in our heart to have been in service with them. This is a very important part of our song ministry. On one such visit Bervin had broken his left hand and arm in seven places thinking he would never play his guitar again. A gentlemen asked if he could pray for him, he prayed for him and he is playing his guitar today. The half has not yet been told. God Bless Everyone That Hears This CD. Pray for The Underwoods as they work for God!!!!!!!!
