Details:
Bird To Prey, is singer and songwriter Sarah Turk with drummer Hugh Veldon (of King Wasabi Fame), who mix folk, a little bit of blues and a bit country to sing songs about old flames far away places and things about the night.
Originally hailing from Adelaide, South Australia, Sarah packed her van in 2003, and drove across the lonely Nullarbour, to Fremantle Western Australia, where she began performing solo, establishing herself a reputation as a powerful yet fragile performer who’s shows were a joy to watch.
It was at one of these shows on a cold May night in early 2007 that gold was struck at an impromptu performance that happened when Hugh jumped onto the stage and started playing the drums with Sarah. Despite having never played together before, the show went off with a bang and both wondered why this had not happened earlier.
Six months went by before they had the chance to play together again as only a week later Sarah hopped on a plane and headed to Toronto for a three month internship working for World Music Pioneers the Toronto Tabla Ensemble (Thank you to Arts W.A.) During her time in Canada Sarah had the opportunity to meet and learn from many amazing musicians and was able to perform in Toronto, New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Ireland.
As a solo performer Sarah has supported the likes of Jeff Lang, Teddy Thompson (Son of folk legend Richard Thompson) Dom Mariani (The Stems), and earlier this year supported Jeff Martin (The Tea Party) with Hugh.
