Just Outside Kentucky Ron Hardesty
"Hardesty''s songs sound as though he''s been telling stories through music his whole life”. He "melds classic folk and classic country, creating tunes that are both instantly familiar and wholly their own. His songs are alternately hilarious and heartbreaking, stories of characters faced with all the hardships, big and small, that life tends to throw quite unexpectedly". (Cascadia Weekly)
Ron Hardesty has been singing and playing in various cover bands since the 60’s but only in the last four or five years has he focused on writing and performing his own songs. "Listening to him work his way through up-tempo tunes and gentle ballads, you''d never know it", The Cascadia Weekly noted.
Although Ron credits the All Terego Band on the CD, Cloyd Harvester and R.C. are really just figments of his imagination. The album is long. Seventeen songs, all recorded and produced at his home in Bellingham, Washington, reveal bits of Ron’s experience that many people can relate to. The title track is an ode to humble beginnings in the farm country of Michigan (Kentucky was the name of an outbuilding on the farm) that have formed the core of his life. He sings of hope, of new beginnings, of relationships lost and found, songs couched in humor but always acutely poignant, in a voice Whats Up! Called "flawed, but warm and comfortable". That’s a good way to sum him up.
