Details:
Robert Grenier (b. 1981) is a singer/songwriter from Rochester NY. He’s played in several bands (most notably The Dents and The Minstrels), and began his solo career on the streets of Austin TX in 2006. His time playing solo-sets on street corners has led to a stripped-down and portable sound, usually with just guitar, vox, and harmonica. He’s played sets with many drifters and unknowns, all of whom left their mark in Robert’s songcraft.
Make It Through is Robert''s 5th release, and was recorded Sept 2008 in Webster NY. Robert''s most well-recieved work, it shows a tremendous leap-forward in both songwriting and performing ability. Fans of Robert''s music would be wise to check out "Next To An Orphanage," surely his most inspired song to date.
Lyrics:
Make It Through
You''ve got so much love to give
and you''ve had so many years to live
You don''t know what to do
But when you look into her eyes
you know that you can sympathize
You''d love to see her through x3
You''ve got the season on your side
but you''ve got no car in which to ride
Should you take your bow
And you know that you have dreamed the dreams
but how strong are you at the seams
Who''s gonna hurt you now
But you know you''ll make it through somehow
You''ll make it through somehow
Time Is Blue
Time is blue, love is green
love is green, love is green
Time is blue, love is green
love is green, love is green
Oh how they cheered when
we were done
I guess we left them wanting more
We shared our love backstage
high above
We walked hand-in-hand out the door
And outside was sunny, and peaceful,
and bright
The trees were swaying
I heard this song playing, that...
Chorus
I know I''ve never said
the words that I mean and
I know that this world isn''t
quite like my dreams, but
I want you to know in the spaces
between when we meet
I still think of you
Tender and sweet...and that
Chorus
Next To An Orphange
I have to live next to an orphanage
I guess that''s alright with me
There''s room in this land for everyone
At least that''s the way it''s supposed to be
At least that''s the way it''s supposed to be
I have to live next to an orphanage
I sell subscription to help them out ya see
I have several other home-based businesses
But I just keep the money
I just keep the money
They say "find one person to live your life with"
Sounds like good advice to me
I think I may have found that someone
And it''s as good as I remember it to be
It''s as good as I remember it to be
I have to live next to an orphanage
But that was never quite the plan
But it''s the best thing for me
It''s the redemption of an American man
It''s the redemption of an American man
