Details:
Project Celebrities reigned over the Bay Area rap scene throughout the late summer of 2008 and steadily built up G lot Records dynasty in the process. The Bay Area rappers made there splash debut in 2008 and cranked out hit after hit While such success is amazing, Project Celebrities musical achievements outweigh the commercial achievements of the franchise. Moreover, they retained a strongly devoted fan base -- not only the suburban crowd but also the street-level crowd as well -- and challenged whatever rivals attempted to outshine them from atop the rap industry, they worked with only the hottest producers of the moment Traxx, Louie da Foolie, an rapper slash producer Bennie Owens . they similarly collaborated with the hottest rappers in the industry, everyone from the bay area rappers like the the Ying Yang Twins from Atlanta , Messy Marv, Keak da Sneak, Lil Ric an many more Born and raised in the rough South Side Projects of Richmond CA, Project celebrities underwent some tough times growning up fatherless before the young rappers were even a teens. Without a men in the house, they became self-supportive youth, turning to the streets, where they soon made a name for them self as fledging rappers. Known as "Bicam & Pounch " in there neighborhood, they soon changed there nickname to Royal Hiniss Da Great and Bennie Owens Da Best Thang they did all they could to break into the rap game. Of course, as they vividly discuss in their lyrics, Royal Hiniss & Bennie Owens Da Best Thang also became street hustlers at this time, doing what needed to be done to make money. [Project Celebrities] For a while, they ran around with small-time Bay Area rapper with a record deal but few sales. They learned how to navigate through the rap industry and what moves to make Royal Hiniss subsequently decided to make an untraditional decision and start his own label rather than sign with an established label Together with friends Bennie Owens they created G lot Records Records, a risky strategy for cutting out the middleman and making money for themself. Of course, they needed a quality distributor, and then scored a deal with Urban Life with the debut album, Project Celebrities Though Project Celebrities didn’t reach numbers on Billboard''s album chart, Project Celebrities debut became an undisputed classic among fans, many of whom consider it there crowning achievement. Led by the hit single "On Da Run," a duet featuring Tequila , Project Celebrities slowly spread through California; some listeners were drawn in because of big names like Ying Yang Twins and Messy Marv., others by the gangsta motifs very much in style at the time. By the end of its steady run, Project Celebrities generated three more charting singles -- "Gotham Citi ," with Tajzma & kountree on the hook; " Go Crazy Ft Keak Da Sneak "; and "Feelin lik A Playa " -- and set the stage for Much more The album boasted numerous marketable contributors such as Ying Yang Twins and Messy Marv , which no doubt helped sales, yet Project Celebrities decision to move in a more accessible direction for much of the album, trading gangsta rap for pop-rap, increased there audience twofold.
