Linda''s lyrics are intimate and honest, displaying an ability to relate her personal experiences in a way that touches the hearts of her audiences. The songs are rooted in family and friendship and are grounded in the land. The CD flows gently from one song to the other and is both thought provoking and calming at the same time.
Linda''s clear voice is accented with simple, but effective accompaniment, which includes the fiddle and banjo of musical virtuoso Keith Bartlett, the slide and lead guitar of Byron Olsen and the percussion and piano of her producer, Gord Hildebrand. When Linda does her own harmony, her voice blends to produce a pleasant emphasis.
A prairie singer songwriter, Linda grew up under the " big sky" of the Canadian prairies and now lives near the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. She began singing and songwriting as a teenager and has continued to play with friends throughout her years of building her own home, raising children and working as a therapist. In recent years she has been able to devote more time to her music, honing her harmonies while singing with a trio, now called the Ruddellians. With the new addition of Byron Olsen, this group has begun performing more of their own original tunes. Recently, Linda began writing new material and decided to pursue a life long dream, completing her first "album" in 2002. She''s enjoying the journey of finding her voice and sharing it with the world.
Photographer, Larry Glawson said of "Old Ghost Rising"..."The whole project sounds very assured. Your voice is better than ever. We both think the production and arrangements are very sensitive to your voice. I''ve always felt a kind of melancholic sadness edging to your voice that speaks in quite a profound way. That depth is there in the CD and it''s wonderful to hear."
Painter, Yoshimi Nishi has this to say, ..." I have listened to your CD many times. Each time I ''discover'' a new song ...it is difficult to tell which I like the best. I can feel some deep feelings of yours, which makes me feel emotional. In fact, I cried. I hope you will continue making beautiful songs for yourself and for us all."
