WORLD: Native American, NEW AGE: Meditation

Details:
Mark Thunderwolf is a Native American flutist and recording artist of Lakota Sioux and Eastern Band Cherokee Wolf Clan descent.

He was gifted his first flute in March 2001 at a wolf sanctuary in southern California where he was also adopted in the Apache family of the lady who owns and runs the sanctuary. He released his first CD "Thru the Eyes...of My Brother" in May of 2002, after only playing the flute for 8 months and in April of 2003 he released his second CD "Spirit Call". A portion of the proceeds he receives from CD sales go to help a wolf sanctuary in southwest New Mexico that has almost 300 rescued wolf and wolf-dog mixes.

He also spends time at elementary schools speaking to third, forth and fifth grade students about the importance of the word "respect". He teaches them to respect themselves, each other and the world around them and also teaches them how to meditate and be quiet and respectful in the woods. He also works with Scout troops. His thoughts are that children are our next generation and if they do not understand that we are here as caretakers of the earth...rather than takers, then there will be no world tomorrow.

His music is currently being aired in Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Canada and France and has been aired on BBC radio.

In a recent review of his music, Mark was said to play with the energy of Ian Anderson, the flautist of the rock group Jethro Tull. Mark considered this quite an honorable mention since Ian was somewhat of an influence in his taking up the flute and in August this year (2003), during Jethro Tull''s US tour, Mark met with Ian, Presented him with a Native American Flute and spent an hour alone with Ian talking with him, jamming with him and showing Ian Anderson the rudiments of the Native American Flute, not many people can show Ian how to play flute, but, Mark Thunderwolf did, Mr. Anderson also asked Mark''s Manager to keep him informed as to Mark''s career. What better accolade could an artist have , than have someone like Ian Anderson, who has been in the music business since the 60''s, not just as the front man for Jethro Tull, but, as a solo performer in both Classical Music and eclectic acoustic Rock/Folk, which is the format for his Rubbing Elbows with Ian Anderson tour''s.

Other artists that influenced Mark to take up the flute were Native flute players, Douglas Spotted Eagle and Carlos Nakai and now Mark is serious competition for both these artists and many others at the NAMMY''s and in the Native American Community.
