Award Winning Sheridan Wyoming Rock Group to Release Third Album

Gary Small & the Coyote’ Bros. have released their third recording, entitled “I Don’t Play by the Rules”. Their newest release is seeped deeply in the blues, with obvious Cajun influences, all written by bandleader, guitarist/vocalist, Gary Small. Small’s newest release is seeped deeply in the blues, with obvious Cajun influences tossed in for spice. Driving rhythms, combined with great song writing separate this recording from the blues masses. Small’s guitar is stellar, full of B.B. King like melody along with the sting of Albert Collins. Percussionist Jim Willey and bassist Jobe Jennings complete the trio.

The local blues and rockabilly trio gained international attention in 2007 with their previous release, “Crazy Woman Mountain”, of which garnered Best Rock Recording of 2007 by the Native American Music Awards (Nammys). The trio accepted the Award and performed at the 9th annual show in Niagara Falls, New York, last October. Small had previously won the Nammy Awards, Songwriter of the Year for his solo album, “Wild Indians” in 2002.

The trio was formed in 2006, when Small relocated back to Sheridan after a 17 year stint in Portland Oregon, with his group, The Gary Small Band, of which had notable players: Graham Lear, former percussionist with Santana, and Bobby Torres, former percussionist for Joe Cocker.

Small states “Portland treated me very well, and I got to meet and play with arguably some of the worlds best musicians. But I am very pleased to be living back in Sheridan again. I want our trio to be for Wyoming what ZZ Top is to Texas.”
