Details:
Johnny Fang and Chris Ahern are songwriters from Cork City in Ireland. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, they were household names in their home country as part of the swing harmony trio, Stargazers, appearing often on all major national television programs and performing in Europe, Bermuda and even in Africa. In 1985, they shared a stage with U2 in Cork as part of that band''s European tour.
Stargazers released two albums, Mercier Park and Chaser for the Blues.
Prior to forming Stargazers, Johnny performed with Irish folk group, Stoker''s Lodge, with whom he recorded two albums, as well as with bluegrass outfit The Lee Valley String Band.
Chris played with various folk, jazz and rock bands. In 1989, he founded a Music, Management and Sound course in Colaiste Stiofain Naofa in Cork City, where students learned about all aspects of the music business, studying areas such as musicianship, live performance, songwriting, sound engineering, recording and music contracts. Some of the graduates such as Sinead Lohan, Pauline Scanlon and Mick Flannery have gone on to be signed by labels. Writers like Niall Connolly and Ian Whitty have become well known performers while other graduates work around the world as sound engineers.
In 2002,Chris released his debut solo album Certain on the Lunar record label. The record was produced by Declan Sinnott.
Apollonia, the first album released by Johnny Fang and Chris Ahern, was also produced by Declan Sinnott and features his subtle slide guitar, percussion and keyboard work. Vocals and guitars are played by Johnny and Chris themselves, while they are joined by Noel Barrett and Johnny Campbell on bass, Aine Whelan, Mandy Murphy and Tony Davis on vocals and Joan Scannell on cello.
