Biography/Press Info
Original, authentic, edgy. The Artistry and production of Todd Smith immediately grabs the attention of any true music lover. A native Houston Texan, Smith has worked in the music business for thirteen years. He releases his first of two projects in 2005, STICKWITIT- an up-tempo blend of Dance-floor/background/workout instrumentals. Every track is ideal for the club scene, commercials, movie soundtracks/scores and health & fitness enthusiasts.
Todd said, "I wanted to establish myself as a producer, before anyone heard my voice. Although I am a gifted vocalist and writer, my production skills are what I wanted to expose to the world first. I have quite a catalog of songs that I''ve written, produced and performed. I might not release them all in my lifetime, but maybe someday, someone else will. Until then, I believe that this first release will establish me as a legitimate force in the industry.
Boasting ten strong tracks, STICKWITIT holds the interest of first-time listeners from start to finish. Once the album ends with "be with me" a bass heavy dance floor track and starts again, you forget if you''ve heard track one "think about it", because of the synergy of the entire project. Smith establishes a different sound by blending electronic bass and the unique clarity of toms from a high-end drum set (tracks 2 & 8). The title cut (#7), displays the other side of Todd''s ability to hear a track, know what people want to move to and then arrange the track so that his audience''s ears don''t become tired too fast, too soon. Track 6 is reminiscent of die-hard electric sliders. Airy strings laced on top of a melodic bass line, gives the track a true rhythmic appeal. Some of the other album highlights are the sounds of Tracks 3, 4 & 5. The magnetism of these tracks reminds you of your favorite fight scene or chase scene in a major motion picture. Todd added, "I could see the potential of each of these tracks during production. They grab you. In fact, I was playing a demo of the album while I was driving out of town one weekend. Before I knew it, I was driving 30 miles over the speed limit. Especially with track 3, I found myself just pressing the gas! And that''s the joy of what''s been created. Because there are no words, you aren''t distracted by a voice or harmony or special vocal effects. The instruments alone make the album what it is."
Smith plans to release his next project "personal ministry" in winter of 2005.
