There are 8 chapters of Tehillim (Psalms)on the album. Each song has the entire hebrew text of the psalm. We have tried to capture the mood of the psalm with each song. If one sings along its possible to merit the reward of saying psalms in your car, or in your house. Its very helpful to review the psalms in hebrew in advance to enhance your listening experience.
As a tool for Jewish Education
I must share with you my personal experience in singing these special mystical songs. I had to research the pronunciation and meaning of each of the verses so as to transmit a clear message of the psalmist. I soon discovered an added benefit - the music facilitates the listener to memorize psalms in hebrew, just as if one was learning the lyrics to their favorite song. Then I learned that to sing the words properly with the correct pronunciation has increased my understanding of the chapter.
To sum it up this is not just a music listening experience. when you memorize and understand the meaning of the psalm, you can increase your focus to fulfil the original purpose of the psalm - to get closer to G-d.
The Psalms were originally received with holiness as a way for Man to overcome various spiritual ailments that he encounters. The original psalms had music that accompanied the psalm as is mentioned at the beginning of many psalms. The original music has been long forgotten, but various modern composers have been able to compose music to accompany the original text. It is in this vein, that I have intended to compose music to accompany the original text.
The recording process has been a great leap in effort and expense for us and now were ready to share it with you, so pull out your psalms for a quick review and turn on your mp3 player lets get moving - in the upward direction.
