Bio:
Billy Blaze performed in a few cover bands before deciding to take a stab at writing his own music. He has been performing in Texas since 1997 and began writing songs in 2005. He decided to go solo on this album, but that might change on the next CD.
Born in Vidalia, then living in Texas since his teens, Billy Blaze now calls Weatherford, Texas home. He plays a Taylor GS guitar, and often uses his Bose L1 model 2 PA system when performing live. He is usually easily persuaded to travel and share his music. He hopes his music will elicit new thoughts, old feelings, or some type of inspiration in the listener.
Billy Blaze’s Song Notes:
“Dixie Devil” was born from a nightmare. I popped out of bed and started writing it down and the song just flowed. It’s about a Man who is dreaming that he is in another man’s body and living the life of that man.
In the dream he is in a hotel room with a woman when a man busts the door down and kills the woman then turns on him. As the dreamer is vicariously living this nightmare through another man’s eyes, he realizes that the man that busted into the room is his host’s brother, who just broke out of prison, killed his pregnant wife, and turns on the dreamer‘s host, just as the dreamer is realizing that his host is the father of the baby.
“Em” has to do with the personal demons we all have.
“Friends” is born from a very disappointing night where I was the headliner at a club playing to an empty room.
“Good Times” is a love song.
“Open Your Eyes” is a political statement and an attempt to wake up people to some of the things that are wrong with our current situation.
“That Way” is a party song about friends and the search for a good time.
“Love Hate Thing” is a special kind of love song.
“The Man” is a song that is written from the perspective of the powers that control us.
“Think” is a political and social statement, but also a plea to encourage that which our current society seems to discourage: free thinking.
