Details:
My Darling Asleep was formed in 2003 to perform traditional Irish songs and dance tunes. The band was initially an outgrowth of the Irish Music Ensemble, a student group at the University Of Louisville School Of Music. My Darling Asleep’s repertoire includes a wide variety of music from the Celtic world, ranging from spirited jigs, reels, and hornpipes to graceful airs and songs of folklore and wonder. Louisville Music News calls MDA "the hottest new Celtic band in town" and the Louisville Courier-Journal adds the band is one of the "5 Best" (and only band to receive that mention) things at St Patrick''s Day in Louisville.

HENRY AUSTIN- Guitar and vocals
Henry has played guitar since age 13. He first played in rock bands, but after a move to Kentucky, he was drawn to traditional music and dance of America and the British Isles. In the years that followed, he has become a veteran of traditional dance bands in Louisville. He was a founding member of one of Louisville’s first Irish bands, Tight Squeeze, a regional favorite.

RACHEL BLANTON-Violin
Rachel began playing violin at age five and now has a Master’s degree in violin performance. She works as a violin instructor and freelance musician in the Louisville area. LAUREL FUSON- accordion and piano
Laurel has played music since she was a kid, first piano and then alto sax. She picked up the accordion after hearing it played at Scottish country and New England contra dances. She formed Scots Measure in the 1980''s which played for traditional Scottish country dancing and balls in Louisville and all over the midwest.

MARION HALLIDAY- vocals
Marion has been singing since her childhood when she sang in church and madrigal choirs. While attending Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, she was a member of the Handel Society performing works from the baroque to contemporary periods. She also developed her skills as a soloist, playing guitar while singing folk and rock ballads in small venues on the east coast.
