Numerology, the inaugural effort from Bill Harrison is a flowing suite of instrumental rock fusion. Known throughout his hometown musical community as “Mister Bill”, this Motor City native has learned his craft by playing piano and keyboards with some of the best seasoned professionals in the Detroit area. He’s recently picked up the accordion and crafted this labor of love with a varied and eclectic audience in mind. It should grab the ears of everyone from Gen-Y aficionados of the alternative…to those burned-out baby boomers looking for something different, yet still familiar.
The tracks that perhaps best capture the feeling of Numerology are “It Takes 3 2 Tango”, “Back 2 ‘73”, and “I-405.”
Blending genres that range from traditional jazz, to acoustic rock, to world beat, Mister Bill creates a sound that pays homage to fusion stalwarts like David Sanborn, Russ Freeman or Bela Fleck. However, his instrument of choice is not sax, guitar, or even banjo— but accordion. Each tight arrangement features acoustic accordion backed by keyboards, bass and drums.
