Notes of appreciation:
Jay Lichtmann (trumpet & educator),
I would like to express a personal note of thanks to Jay Lichtmann who wrote the arrangements for a large portion of this CD. Jay graciously allowed me to record his work and I can''t thank him enough.
Jay Lichtmann has been the Principal Trumpet of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra since the fall of 1982. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School
Jeff Gibble (guitarist, composer/arranger & sound engineer),
My history with Jeff goes all the way back to high school. Back then; his understanding music composition was well beyond even the best of us. I lost touch with him shortly after our high school years ended but was reunited with his brilliance about a year ago. In addition to being a first-rate composer and arranger, his talents extend to the guitar and sound engineering. He is solely responsible for my being able to have recorded this CD through his ever-patient guidance. Jeff, I am in your debt.
Jeff Gibble (guitarist/composer) has toured numerous nightclubs and taverns on the east coast with the rock band Alaska, jazz-fusioneers The Edgar Myers Trio, his own band The Jeff Gibble Group, and most recently, with the progressive rock band AudioJoe. (He first wrote tunes in 4/4, and then composed in more complex times like 5/8, 7/8 and 9/8. Is this what they mean by ''progressive''?) Most of these venues could be classified as ''dives'' and don''t pay so well, so in his spare time Jeff has had to resort to composing tortuous suites for his trumpet playing comrades, represented on Trumpets Alone by Amusement, Annoyance and Agitation for Trumpet Ensemble. He also co-wrote Mystery with Mic Smith, and his guitar playing amazingly appears to be gracefully hidden.
A word of thanks go to Tom and Patricia Moore at Mulcahy and Associates for allowing me to use their facilities in recording this entire CD.
A very special thanks to my wife, Luz, who puts up with me on a daily basis. Without her support, none of this would have been possible. Being a former dancer and current artist, she understands my passion and is a valuable resource for expanding my musical creativity. The artwork on the cover is Luz''s creation...just a small example of her capabilities. It is to her and my son, Michael Emilio, that I dedicate this project.
