Details:
Between 1980 and 1996, Ric Slagle was a young, itinerant, sax player based out of Baltimore, MD, and upstate New York. He frequented mostly blues clubs and the popular haunts of the times in Baltimore, Washington, and New York. He sat in with people like Stevie Ray Vaughn and others who went on to major music careers, but never recorded on his own until 1992, when pressure to record caused his first release, Horntoad, to receive positive reviews. Fortunately, the sales were not enough to sustain a career in the USA, so he left to play a full time blues gig in Mexico with Genaro Clemow, which resulted in another release, The Rick Slagle Blues Project, an horn-soaked collection, again, mostly of cover songs. While in Mexico, he fell in love, and married, and has not been present on the music scene for awhile. As a minor player, his recordings are worth a listen, and might become favorites among your music collection.
