Our Band, Gallowglass, was formed in 2004 in Wheeling, WV. Our name comes from the Scottish warriors of the 16th and 17th C. who protected the traditions of the Irish Chieftains. We were drawn together by our common interest in the traditional forms of Celtic music. We are self-taught on our instruments and we get together weekly for session. We play for local dances and festivals, including the annual Wheeling Celtic Festival in March and Fort Henry Days Revolutionary War Re-enactment in August.
