Dady Brothers quotes from press and individuals

City Newspaper Rochester NY Chuck Cuminale 1991
“ The Dady Brothers are a local treasure, a Flower City institution, and two of the best musicians you’re likely to hear.
They’ve been around for years, playing music clubs, resorts, outdoor festivals, and coffeehouses. They’re equally adept at playing folk, country, rock and roll or Irish music. Wherever and whenever they play they bring with them a professionalism, integrity and musical ability that’s rare on the local scene.”

The Leader State College Fredonia, NY John Affleck 4/1/96
“Drawing from a seemingly endless well of energy the Dady Brothers poured forth two of the purest sets of Folk music.
John Dady has sparkling and distinctive voice is joined by his brother and “best friend”, Joe who played a possessed fiddle and (sic) flailed merrily on his banjo.”

“If you want the real deal in Irish music, these are the brothers to do it all”

City Newspaper Rochester NY 1/4/2000 CD review by Rob Cullivan
“At this point in their career, Rochester’s Dady Brothers seem incapable of producing anything but quality folk, traditional, and Irish music. Singing from the Heart is a beautiful tribute to the music the boys find most moving, from Dixieland to Celtic. This is great mix of modern sounds and old-fashioned musical integrity.”

The Savannah Irish Festival Program Savannah, Georgia
“The Dady Brothers have been a mainstay of the Savannah Irish Festival for many years. Their outstanding performances onstage, coupled with their wonderful outgoing personalities make them one of the favorite groups from past festivals” Talent runs deep in this family; between the two of them, you won’t find an instrument they can’t play.”

Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts
“Joe and John Dady consistently win praise for their musicianship and presentation. Their style blends fiddle, mandolin, whistle, guitar, bodhran, banjo, harmonica and uilleann pipes to deliver a superb fusion of Irish and American roots music.”

Dunkirk Observer Matt Surtel 3/14/99
“John and Joe Dady are possibly the best purveyors of Irish music. They performed their distinctive mix of folk, Irish and bluegrass to a crowed and enthusiastic room at the Fredonia Opera House.”

City Newspaper Chuck Cuminale 11/99
” The Dady Brothers occupy a unique position in the Rochester music scene. They have a fan base that transcends generations, and seem to please all members of this age diverse group simultaneously.”

Rick Dougherty of the The Kingston Trio 2007
“The Dady Brothers have wonderful instrumental work and harmonies.
The variety of music they play including guitar, mandolin, violin, bodhran and octave mandolin gives their music a lot of texture and their humor is truly delightful. They’re fine musicians and the nicest couple of guys you’d want to be stuck in an airport with.”

“Sing Out!” Magazine Volume 44 Michael Parrish (CD review)
“The Dady Brothers are strong singers in the Irish ballad tradition as well as good pickers, they have attracted some impressive guests, notably Tommy and Rory Makem, and dobroist Kevin Maul. The pair aren’t afraid to embellish their roots music with creative instrumental touches. A highlight is “The Man with the Banjo” their stirring and affectionate tribute to Pete Seeger.”

“My most important day was when I played my violin with the Dady Brothers”

Mark Cuddy Artistic Director Geva Theatre Center
“What they bring to “Quilters” and our band is immediate authenticity of Folk musicians, you can hear their music in the background like it’s Ken Burns. They
bring that great medium of stories and telling of stories through pieces of music rather than just expressing a feeling.”

Frank Emerson Folk Singer “Between them, Joe and John play eight instruments and are about as talented as they come with a variety of music style from traditional Irish to Rock.”
