Details:
Amanda Penecale is a singer songwriter who is making her way in the Philadelphia music scene. Armed with a finger picking style on the guitar, and a smooth clear voice, her sound is an acoustic blend of folk and rock traditions. Accompanied by drummer Erik Hischmann on a cajon, the sound is simple yet complete. Her music grew out of a love for the sincere storytelling of artists such as James Taylor and Dar Williams. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration, Amanda is not your average songstress. Her lyrics paint images you won''t soon forget. Trained as a classical pianist as a child, and a member of folk band in high school, she is now plotting a course of her own.
On September 6th, 2008 Amanda released her first EP at Puck in Doylestown PA to a packed house. The four songs represented on the disk are only a glimpse at what Amanda has been writing, and there is already talk of future recording projects. Amanda has had the pleasure of playing such respected listening rooms as The Tin Angel, Chaplin’s Music Cafe, John and Peter’s, Milkboy Coffee, and Puck.
“Indeed, her lyrics are not quite purely reflective, but they are not quite topical story verbiage either. Her voice has a richness that is lacking among many of the current waifs of whining who have recently afflicted local stages. Statuesque and polite, Penecale has the wherewithal to make a serious and thoughtful effort in show biz.”
