Courtney Leigh Heins'' sophomore CD Hot Coffee takes you on a long and winding road trip through the heart of Americana. From the political anthem The Great Divide to the Hurricane Katrina-inspired Times Like These, Courtney taps into the subconscious of a nation evolving. Featuring Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams'' band) on guitar and a haunting rendition of Concrete Blonde''s 1989 hit Joey.
Courtney Heins, a Hoosier native, won her first songwriting award at the age of 5. She later graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Arts and used the prize money she won from a playwriting contest to move to Los Angeles, where she has resided ever since. In 2002, Courtney met up with Bryan Dobbs. He has been playing guitar since the age of 10, studied the mandolin for 3 years and recently added the banjo to his instrumental repertoire which includes piano, drums, & harmonica. The two immediately began recording music together & have performed around the Los Angeles area at The Rainbow, Genghis Cohen, Pig''n Whistle & Molly Malone''s, where they''ve opened for I See Hawks in LA. Courtney''s music combines elements of folk, country, jazz, and bluegrass with compelling stories about life in the Heartland & Hollywood, lost loves and found whiskey. Influences include Bob Dylan, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Wilco & Lucinda Williams. "Home cooked groove.. aching, country bluesy feel to vocal attitude, great lyric references. Immensely promising."--TAXI A&R
