Details:
My love affair with music began in Calgary Alberta Canada, where I spent the long cold winters singing along to my mother’s old Elvis Presley records. My journey into the world of Jazz took me to Los Angeles where I met alto Saxophonist Doc Doolittle.
For the past 15 years Doc has graciously and brilliantly taught me everything I know about Jazz. Doc didn’t just teach me about phrasing, intonation, musicality, taste and how to sing with a “fire in your belly”, he also regaled me with personal stories about the life and times of John Coltrane, Mose Allison, Ella Fitzgerald, and Ann Richards who he always said I reminded him of.
After appearing on the hit show Star Search, I studied at the Dick Grove School of Music and toured Japan with Warner Bros. Records. I then performed throughout Los Angeles with my all star jazz quartet; “Bare Naked Jazz”.
About the Band
I am honored to have had the uncommon opportunity to perform with the living legends of our time. For my debut CD, Doc Doolittle, the project producer, brought together the virtuosic styling’s of Guitarist Ron Anthony, Drummer Joe Carrero, Bassist Paul Gormley, Pianist Bill Brendle, Frank Collette, Marty Harris and of course the elegant sax sound of Doc Doolittle himself. This illustrious group of seasoned performers have played with stars such as; Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Peggy Lee, Diana Krall, Billy Holiday and many more.
About the CD
This CD is a wonderful collection of all my favorite jazz standards. Everything from Nancy Wilson, Peggy Lee, Billie Holliday and much more. Most of this CD was recorded “Live Off The Floor” which was both exciting and exhilarating. It’s a special collection that is very dear to my heart and 20 years in the making. I have already received wonderful reviews from the U.S. industry insiders and will be reviewed and featured in an upcoming edition of The Calgary Sun.
There are a couple of pop standards that I have put my own special arrangement on such as “Somewhere over the Rainbow” and a charming bosanova written by Barry Manilow called “Something Tells Me.” I am hoping you will cherish this CD as much as I do.
