"To listen to Madame Hooligan’s music is to hear the coalescence of their three distinct personalities. Their influences range from Rage Against the Machine to traditional gypsy music, and it leads to a broad tapestry of sonic innovation. Take “Islands of Violet” for instance. Dave’s rolling guitar riff leads into a vocal melody that’s equal part song and chant. By the time Radu screams in climax, “I betray you, you betray me”, followed by head-bobbing guitar work that again almost dances, one’s transported to a biker bar smack in the middle of exotic desert. The bloodthirsty locals hide knives beneath their robes, and the wrong look might get you beheaded, yet for some reason you’re smiling. This is the beautiful absurdity of their sound." - Jacob Osborn (writer)
