Details:
COLOURS OF BULGARIA was originally released by Arktos Recording in 2001; most of the tracks were recorded on Glenn Gould''s grand piano, now property of King''s University College in Edmonton, Canada. Up to this day, the disc remains the one and only North American release entirely devoted to the solo piano pieces of Pantcho Vladigerov (also known as Wladigeroff or Vladiguerov).

Pantcho Vladigerov''s genius was admired by such diverse musical personalities as R. Strauss, Shostakovich, Khachaturian, Karajan, Oistrakh, and Weissenberg, and the composer gained considerable fame in Germany and Austria in the Twenties and Thirties. Considered The Grand Master of Bulgarian Music, he was one of the first to combine idioms of the West European late romanticism with those of traditional Bulgarian music.

The CD features eighteen of Vladigerov''s pieces selected from his several cycles of piano miniatures. It has been awarded "Four Stars" both by the prestigious programme Sound Advice on CBC Radio and La Scena Musicale Magazine. Completely sold out, the disc is now only available as digital download. This new edition includes a bonus track "Nocturne" added to the seventeen pieces of the first version.

Born and raised in Sofia, Bulgaria, Dimiter Terziev has graduated from the State Academy of Music in the capital city. He has also earned graduate degrees from Canada''s Concordia University in Montreal and the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Among his teachers have been Antoaneta Arsova, Milena Mollova, Anna Szpilberg, and Dr. Stephane Lemelin. Terziev won the 3rd prize at the National Chopin Competition in Bulgaria in 1989 and since then has performed in numerous piano recitals in Canada, USA, Germany, The Netherlands, and Bulgaria. He has also appeared as soloist of Bulgarian and Canadian orchestras. He has released three solo piano CDs Colours of Bulgaria, Nocturnal World (including an alternative downloadable version), and The Beginning and End of Classicism.
The artist is currently living and teaching in Kamloops and Vernon in British Columbia, Canada.

"Master of the stirring mysteries of sound . . . His playing constantly moved between poetry and passion."
(Badische Zeitung, Germany)

"He is a musician of deeply reasoned convictions, who already has a well defined understanding of his own artistic voice. He is a musician who thinks at the piano, and who has the gift of communicating his artistic vision in an engaging manner."
(Dr. Stephane Lemelin, Canada
