Buster Hewlett
I was born in 1952, in a ranching/farming community on the East edge of the San Joaquin Valley, just outside the little town of Le Grand, California. I always liked to write songs even when I was young. In music I listened to Haggard, Pride, Husky, Cash, and most all of the good old boys. I come from a very close knit family and grew up amongst farmers, ranchers and cowboys in a great small town atmosphere. My auction business has allowed me to travel to the East Coast and Western states where I have acquired many friends and experiences. One of my favorite things is to hang out with my hometown buddies and kick back with a few beers. I love to hunt and still get to do so with my old high school football coach and my old college Ag instructor.
Most of my songwriting comes from my experiences along life''s path. I have found most all of us pretty much have the same stories. I just like to tell about mine with songs. My first album "Cowboys Heart" was heard by the right people who sent me to Stan Anderson of Trac Records. Stan is one of the great old timers in music. He learned his craft as a sound engineer years ago at a major record company. His knowledge in recording, his ability to assenble outstanding musicians and his overall frienship was the key factor in helping make "Headed for the Mountain" a great kick-back-listen-to CD.
I still live outside of Le Grand on Mariposa Creek with my wife,Sherri, and my twelve year old son, Wyatt. On Sunday morning (when I''m not working), you can find me at our local church with my eighty seven year old Dad.
